The reel-wheels.com database is a subscription service with an annual fee of $25.00, though subscribers who choose the automatic renewal option get a 20% discount and lock in that rate for as long as the vehicle is registered in the database.

The registration form requires you provide information about yourself and about your vehicle.  However, only your car photos, name and phone number are provided in the search results.

The database includes a line to indicate you do background work.  For those who work as background actors this could increase your exposure by putting your name and vehicle at the Assistant Director's fingertips.  This allows Assistant Directors to identify and request, through their extra's casting service, those background with the types of vehicles needed for a car call.  It is important you provide the correct information in the database to insure the casting companies can find you.  You can also indicate if you belong to a performer's union, however, do not claim SAG or AFTRA membership if you are not a member.

While there is no fee for those searching the database for vehicles, access is password protected and users must register in order to obtain a password.

To assist you in filling out the form:

Type of Vehicle: Check the appropriate category.

Make, Model, Year: These should be self explanatory.

Vehicle Pictures: Please review the Photo Guidelines below. It is important that you place the correct picture on each line on the form to insure the search engine displays your information properly.  As the maximum picture display is 200 x 300 pixels, your digital camera should provide you with workable photographs.  Please note file size is limited to 500K.  If you have any questions or need assistance please email us via the link on our Home page.

Keywords: You can include specific descriptive words that can help database users in their search. Examples such as: hotrod, street rod, restored, beater (banged up, primered, etc), convertible, paint job description (two-tone, flames, etc.). We will attempt to establish a suggested list of Keywords as time goes on. For those who have vehicles that they placed in the "Other" category this space provides you the opportunity to describe your vehicle, perhaps it is a tractor, mo-ped, or whatever.

Referrals: This space is reserved for identification numbers that we provide to those subscribers that sign on to participate in our rewards program.  To learn more about this program please email us via the link on our Home page.

Background Work:  Do not check this if your primary interest is in receiving a picture vehicle fee.  Background actors, when booked on what is called a car call receive a car adjustment on their background voucher, as opposed to a picture vehicle fee. The car adjustment currently ranges from $20 to $35, dependent upon if they are union or non-union, and does not factor into their hourly rate of pay.

Picture Vehicle owners willing to do background work on those days your vehicle works should let the production staff know.  Be aware this could require your working in scenes that are unrelated to your vehicle and could require your staying well after the scenes with your vehicle have been completed.  For any production company signatory to a performer's union your union status is important and must be made clear.  If you have any questions, the AD can explain how this works to you.
